Last night's SmackDown opened with Cody Rhodes; however, it took no time for an angry Solo Sikoa to appear and demand a rematch for the Undisputed WWE Championship.
The American Nightmare flat-out refused, reminding Solo of his failings at SummerSlam. Before the Bloodline could attack, Kevin Owens hit the ring with a steel chair to help drive them off.
We thought that was the end of the segment, but Rhodes stopped KO and told him he had an awkward proposal; he named Owens as the man he wanted to face at Bash in Berlin, with the title on the line (his justification was that Owens earned it for helping him battle The Bloodline).
The former Universal Champion disagreed with Rhodes' assessment, pointing to his recent win/loss record. Backstage, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis mentioned Roman Reigns possibly being due a rematch, prompting the Prizefighter to fire up. With that, the match was made official for later this month.
Babyface vs. babyface clashes are always interesting and it feels like this might be WWE's way of finally getting Rhodes out from the Bloodline's shadow.
Talking of that faction, the night ended with Solo reminding Reigns that he's the new Tribal Chief. That brought the Head of the Table out to the ring and he proceeded to lay waste to Sikoa, Tama Tonga, and Tonga Loa with Superman Punches, a steel chair, and even a Spear through the barricade.
The group made off with the Tribal Chief's Ula Fala necklace, so this clearly isn't over. Reigns didn't speak either, meaning we still need to hear from the former champion, something which should keep us all on the SmackDown hook in the coming weeks.
