Samoa Joe Reveals How WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar Plans For His Matches...Or Doesn't

Brock Lesnar and Samoa Joe's match at Great Balls of Fire was one of The Beast's best bouts in some time and in a new interview, Joe sheds some light on Lesnar's preparation - or lack thereof - for his matches.

Samoa Joe won the WWE Universe over in a big way during his recent match with Brock Lesnar and will no doubt do the same again when he's part of that epic Fatal-4-Way match at SummerSlam next month. Squaring off with The Beast was clearly a fun experience for Joe and he's now shed some light on the preparation for their fight.

Well, "preparation" may not be the best word to use as Lesnar clearly isn't a fan of it!

"Not a lot of people get into Brock Lesnar like I did. Brock is every bit as intimidating as you’d imagine he would be times two. No, I mean, he’s a shaved gorilla. It’s just he’s stronger than strong. I don’t even think he even realizes how strong he is. I mean, he [has] got great control, but he is The Beast. He’s a big dude.

"When you’re going in there and you’re going to get into it with Brock. Brock isn’t going to work on a lot of stuff; he’s going to want to go out there and he’s going to want to get down, so like Brock’s not a preplanned dude at all, man, so you’ve just got to go out there and do it. For some people it trips them out, but for me, I’m like, ‘if we’re going to scrap, we’re going to scrap.’"

That certainly helps give Lesnar's matches the feel of a legit fight and is something that has rubbed some of his opponents up the wrong way. Dean Ambrose clearly wasn't a fan of this method (hence why he called Brock "lazy") but Joe liked it and says his TNA matches with Kurt Angle helped him prepare for such a unique style of wrestling match.

"Like, honestly, a lot of getting ready for Brock was realizing he’s basically a bigger Kurt Angle. But Kurt is… he’s crazy, man. We just had the documentary about him and everything I said is true. If Kurt Angle’s leg fell off, he’d hop twice as fast to make up for the loss of mobility, man. There’s no quit in him. It was kind of a nice primer to get ready for Brock."

Will Samoa Joe topple The Beast at SummerSlam? We'll have to wait and see...
