Paige—who now goes by her real name, Saraya Bevis—made a game-changing impact in WWE in the mid-2010s. A successful NXT run was followed by an unforgettable main roster debut in 2014 that saw her defeat AJ Lee for the Divas Championship during her first night on RAW.
As time passed, Paige battled addiction and neck issues. While she's since managed to overcome those to step back into the ring for AEW, many fans remain eager to see her back in WWE, not as Saraya, but as Paige.
It's hard to believe it hasn't happened already, but with the Royal Rumble on the horizon, who knows what surprises might be in store for us.
During a recent interview, Saraya praised Triple H and what he's accomplished for women's wrestling. "With Hunter, I will always hold a soft spot because he helped the women more than people realise, when he took over NXT, he trusted us to have these long matches," she explained.
"He gave us time, he gave us the opportunities, he let us do moves that women weren't doing before or hadn't done in a very long time or what Vince didn't allow us to do," Saraya added. "So I'm very grateful for him. I think he's doing a great job and he’s just trying to put on the best show that he possibly can."
Revealing what her dream match in WWE would be, she said, "I’d love to fight Rhea Ripley. When I was in WWE, we had just started getting the ball rolling with the Divas Revolution. So the matches like the Elimination Chamber and the Royal Rumble and stuff like that were only just starting to happen. So I didn't get the opportunity to do those, at least in WWE anyway."
"So I feel like it would be fitting for me and Rhea to do an Extreme Rules match or something like that. Something edgy for us!"
While an AEW return is doubtful, albeit not impossible, Saraya is just excited to see how many opportunities there are for wrestlers across the board now. "I love the structure over in WWE but I also like the freedom that you had in AEW so it's really hard to figure out which is better," she mused. "I'm grateful that I got the opportunity to work in both places."
"Even TNA now, they did such a good job on their recent pay-per-view, so they're doing something special over there as well. So with the three companies, there’s so much opportunity. There was only one big company years ago," the former WWE and AEW Women's Champion concluded.
Stay tuned for updates on Saraya/Paige's future as we have them.
