As we're sure you're aware, Monday's RAW ended with World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins being betrayed by his own faction, The Vision.
The Visionary was laid out by Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed, with WWE Hall of Famer Paul Heyman joining the two rising stars. Now, PWInsiderElite.com is reporting that this wasn't a long-term plan, but a creative decision "necessitated" by a legitimate injury suffered by Rollins at Crown Jewel on Saturday.
It's believed that Rollins needs shoulder or rotator cuff surgery to repair the damage, though there is still at least some uncertainty surrounding whether this is a work or not.
As the site points out, "There was word spreading of a potential surgery, but nothing has been officially announced by anyone in the company – nor has there been any acknowledgement of what this means for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship."
However, the "silver lining" to this situation is that it gives WWE the chance to "push Breakker and Reed to the moon," with Heyman as their mouthpiece in a move that could "shake up the current creative doldrums." Fans have grown tired of The Vision, so removing Rollins from the equation could give RAW a much-needed refresh, establishing Breakker and Reed as more than just his heavies.
Rollins is thought to have injured himself after landing badly following a coast-to-coast dive on Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes. It's unclear what this means for the World Heavyweight title or CM Punk's status as #1 contender.
For what it's worth, Rollins will no longer be appearing at WWE's live events in Japan on October 17 and 18 due to this injury, lending further weight to it being more legitimate than the fake one that led to his cash-in on Punk at SummerSlam.
Bryan Alvarez has also chimed in to say, "[Rollins] definitely has a shoulder injury,. It was from the coast-to-coast headbutt. He is hurt, and so [WWE] pulled the trigger on the Bron Breakker turn on Seth Rollins, and...it's it. The Vision is over."
"There were plans for Seth to run The Vision at least through WrestleMania," Alvarez continued. "The original WrestleMania idea was Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. And...my guess is that Roman Reigns [was] probably going to beat Seth, and that was going to be the catalyst, probably [at] the RAW after WrestleMania, for Bron Breakker turning on Seth Rollins, and they strap the rocket onto the guy."
Stay tuned for additional updates as we have them.
