The Miz and Maryse ended up taking on John Cena and Nikki Bella at WrestleMania, but earlier plans called for The Miz to issue Daniel Bryan with an open challenge to find someone to square off with him for his Intercontinental Championship. That was probably back when Cena was supposed to take on The Undertaker, but as is often the case with WWE, plans changed!

According to Sportskeeda, the storyline would have revolved around The Miz trying to get on the WrestleMania card due to Bryan attempting to keep him off it, but the SmackDown Live General Manager would have sicced Shinsuke Nakamura on him in what would have been a huge surprise debut for the King of Strong Style.

Nakamura would have won the title and The Miz was set to go to RAW, but these plans were scrapped back in December. That was because the idea of Cena proposing to Bella came up, something Vince McMahon reportedly had to fight for with Cena as he wasn't initially keen on that (likely because he thought it would be him retiring The Undertaker).
