Sounds Like Former WWE Superstar Jack Swagger Is Contemplating A Career In The Octagon

Is Jack Swagger thinking about following former colleague CM Punk into The UFC? In a new interview, the one-time "All-American American" revealed that he's thinking about it, and has already started training.

It sounds like Jack Swagger (real name Donald Jacob "Jake" Hager Jr.) might well be the next pro-wrestler to try his hand (well, fist) at mixed martial arts, possibly in The UFC.

Swagger was released from the WWE back in march and has been competing on the indie circuit, but he has still found time to get some MMA training in, and from the sounds of his recent interview with WrestleZone, he may be thinking about making a career in the octagon his primary focus.

“I have to consider fighting, because it’s such a game changer. If I can do both then why not? It’s only going to help my pro wrestling career, and I’ve been training now for about four months and working towards something. It’s very exciting, I wish I would’ve started sooner. It’s who I am and it’s something I got away from.”

The transition from pro-wrestling to MMA didn't go particularly well for CM Punk, but Swagger has the legitimate amateur wrestling background that Punk lacked, and other grapplers such as Brock Lesnar and Bobby Lashley have done very well in the octagon.

It remains to be seen of Swagger follows through on this, but we think there's a lot of potential there. What about you guys?
