The Finish To Last Night's MONEY IN THE BANK Women's Ladder Match Has Come In For Some Huge Backlash

From a certain perspective, WWE's first ever women's Money in The Bank ladder match was won by a man. As you can probably imagine, this has not gone over too well with a lot of fans! More past the jump...

WWE made a huge deal - and rightly so - of the first ever women's Money in The Bank ladder match, and promoted it very well as the historic, monumental event that it was. Unfortunately, all of their good work was pretty much undone by having James f*cking Ellsworth retrieve the briefcase and toss it down to Carmella.

Though The Princess of Staten Island did technically win the match, Ellsworth's involvement in the finish has come in for a lot of backlash - even from some individuals in the company. The match's conclusion does have its defenders (heels gonna be heels etc), but most are in agreement that this is not the way the first ever women's MITB ladder match should have concluded.

The fact that several WWE employees such as Daniel Bryan and Bayley have also expressed their disappointment in the match does suggest that this kind of reaction was expected and will most likely be worked into a new storyline, but that doesn't really excuse such tone-deaf booking.

Check out some of the reactions below, and be sure to share your own thoughts in the usual place.
