As previously noted, former WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville has officially been granted his release from WWE, after requesting it ten months ago back in October 2017.

Many wondered why the company waited so long to release Neville and now it appears we have our answer. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports WWE did not want to set a precedent that talents could simply walk out of their contracts and head elsewhere, with the feeling being that Neville would have wound up signing with New Japan.

So instead, WWE froze the former cruiserweight champion’s contract and had him wait out the rest of his deal. Neville is reportedly free to go anywhere at this moment, so he could actually pop up at All In this Saturday. WWE confirmed his release by quietly moving his profile to the alumni page.
