The Undertaker is one of the greatest of all time and his matches with CM Punk rank among the Deadman's best. In fact, CM Punk's final WrestleMania match was with the WWE Hall of Famer in 2013.
With his in-ring career behind him, The Undertaker is now one of the coaches on LFG alongside Booker T, Mickie James, and Bubba Ray Dudley. Punk has appeared as one of the guest trainers on the show and, during a recent conversation with Mail Online, he shared his take on how much the Second City Saint has changed since they last crossed paths.
He started by talking about how much WWE as a whole has changed and whether he ever expected to see old rivals Triple H and Shawn Michaels calling the shots on the main roster and NXT, respectively.
"Triple H, I would have thought about it, I could see that. But Shawn? Oh Lord, no," The Undertaker admitted. "[Backstage is] almost too calm for me. I say that because I'm not in it, right? I'm not in the day-to-day, but there was just always that moment of panic and the sense of urgency and things getting changed last-minute."
"It was just always a high stress-filled situation, and I go to the shows now and I'm backstage for a minute and all the talent is just so calm and chill and it's a completely different atmosphere, and they seem to be thriving in it," he added.
"I'm not around the day to day like I used to be, but every time that I have been at an event and have seen Punk, he is a truly different person," The Undertaker continued. "He's very friendly, outgoing, can hold a conversation and I see him mentoring a lot as well, which obviously makes me happy, him being one of the greats of his generation."
"I think there's just a journey you have to fly through and go through in life to get to that point where you don't sweat the small stuff anymore and you enjoy the things that you have."
Despite not being a huge fan of how the culture backstage has evolved, The Phenom had nothing but good things to say about how the business itself has increased in popularity.
"You can't deny business," the pro wrestling icon said. "It has been just strapped to a rocket lately, breaking record after record, with premium live events and these incredible gates that they're having at these stadium shows. The Royal Rumble was in a stadium just a few weeks ago and it and it was packed."
"It's incredible to see how strong the product is coming out of such a huge controversy and drama and everything that comes with all that scandalous stuff," Taker added, "but it's just another example of the leadership that's in place."
The Undertaker continues to make sporadic appearances on WWE programming, including the first RAW on Netflix where he gave Rhea Ripley the seal of approval. He also showed up during the main event of WrestleMania last April to lend Cody Rhodes a helping hand against The Rock.
