This Year's WWE DRAFT Won't Play Out In Quite The Same Way As The 2016 Edition
The WWE Draft changed the landscape of RAW and SmackDown Live in a huge way, but big changes are coming to both shows later this year. However, it won't play out in quite the same way as in 2016!
Last July, the landscape of WWE was changed dramatically with the 2016 Draft. RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon, RAW General Manager Mick Foley, SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon and SmackDown Live General Manager Daniel Bryan all chose different Superstars to come to their respective brands and the results have since been mostly excellent.
However, we recently learned that another Draft will take place later this year. The reaction to that has been mixed with many fans disappointed to think that these shows will be undergoing such drastic changes just as they're beginning to find their rhythm. Well, PWMania reports that this edition of the WWE Draft will play out a little differently to the one from 2016.
The plan apparently is for a series of trades to be used to freshen things up as each respective show's authority figures pick Superstars from the rival brand (and NXT) to bring to theirs. Champions will not be eligible to be drafted, while certain names will be "protected" (there will only be a limited number of those, however). It sounds like an interesting approach, don't you think?
