One of the featured bouts on tonight's episode of WWE NXT was a 25-man cross-promotional battle royal featuring talent from not just the NXT roster, but WWE EVOLVE, WWE LFG, and TNA Wrestling.
Among the guest stars were "Super" Sean Legacy, Timothy Thatcher, and Swipe Right (Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes) representing WWE EVOLVE, Chris Island and Shiloh Hill representing WWE LFG (despite how Jasper Troy and Anthony Luke were also shown backstage last week, they were not involved here), and from TNA Wrestling, Zachary Wentz and Elijah.
Wentz was previously Nash Carter during his time in NXT as part of the MSK tag team alongside Wes Lee, so they renewed their rivalry, with Wentz eventually being tossed out by Ethan Page (who has had his time in TNA as well, including recently).
Elijah, formerly Elias Samson and El Vagabundo in WWE and NXT, did his traditional "Who wants to walk with Elias/Elijah?" bit at the start of the match, which the crowd was fully into, chanting both "welcome home" and singing "ooooh walk with Elijah" to the tune of Seven Nation Army.
Some of the other noteworthy moments in the match include Elijah's elimination from Shawn Spears, Yoshiki Inamura accidentally eliminating his tag team partner Josh Briggs (leading to Inamura saying later that he was sorry and that he's leaving NXT to go back to Japan), and Joe Hendry distracting Trick Williams so he could be eliminated by Elijah.
Chris Island was the first to be eliminated, quickly followed by Lexis King. Shiloh Hill had a relatively decent showing, and Je'Von Evans was on fire, saving himself from elimination in a few innovative ways and lasting until the final four.
Ultimately, Shawn Spears and Ethan Page were too busy working on each other to notice Myles Borne sneaking up behind them, and No Quarter Catch Crew's hearing-impaired Randy Orton lookalike scored the shocking upset victory and won the match!
Later in the show, Charlie Dempsey tried to usurp the title match, claiming that Borne won it "for the group" and that he would be better off against Oba Femi. Borne didn't bend to Dempsey's will, though, and instead, volunteered Dempsey to face Femi in a non-title match next week.
