With WWE CCO Triple H now in charge of creative, the company has gone from strength to strength and is more successful today than even during the Attitude Era.
Vince McMahon's dated view of pro wrestlers (sorry, "sports entertainment") was holding WWE back - contributing to its decline in popularity - but Triple H and WWE President Nick Khan have proven to be something of a dream team in recent months.
Talking at SummerSlam's post-show press conference, The Game teased their plans for the remainder of 2024.
"Nick [Khan] and I had a very specific agenda in how we wanted to approach this year and the way we wanted it to roll out, and I think you've seen that in all the international events we have done, and the size of these events, and where they are located, and how we have done them," Triple H told reporters. "This year's going to close out big, excited for all of it, the future's bright."
"These talents, this is the most amazing roster I think I have seen - most talented, most dedicated, everyone is having a blast right now, including me which is the best part of it. We are all just charging ahead, if what I believe to be true coming is true, you ain't seen nothing yet."
Fans noticed that The Bloodline's Jacob Fatu appeared to hurt his leg during the main event and Triple H later confirmed both he and Logan Paul were "banged up."
"Unfortunately, [Jacob Fatu] got a little bit banged up in that last match," he said. "Logan [Paul's] a little banged up, as he should be, and Jacob's a little banged up. I'll see where that nets out here in a little bit. Hopefully nothing serious, but it was bugging [Fatu] a little bit, the leg, so we'll see where he is."
Finally, the executive shared updates on plans for John Cena's retirement tour and whether Stephanie McMahon is eyeing a WWE return following her latest "cameo" appearance at SummerSlam on Saturday evening.
"John [Cena] has earned the right in his career to do whatever he wants, when he wants. I believe it is the beginning of [2025] John will come back and it's sort of like [a] farewell tour that has an end to it and John's gonna come back and have a blast," Triple H teased.
"He's gonna come back and he's gonna be there for the Royal Rumble, that's gonna be his last Royal Rumble, he's gonna be there for the Elimination Chamber, and that'll be his last Elimination Chamber. He's gonna be there for WrestleMania, and that will be his last WrestleMania, and then it will continue and then by the end of '25, that will be the end of John Cena."
"She does not have an official role right now," he later added, referring to his wife and former WWE Chairwoman. "But I can tell you this: she loves this. Absolutely loves it. Sometimes it's harder to love it, and sometimes easy to love it. It's easy to love it again for her. She's enjoying watching it. She's enjoying coming to the show, she's enjoying seeing everybody in the back."
"She loves it. If I'm the little kid booking or writing, or however you want to say it, sitting on his couch, she's sitting there, right next to me, a little kid enjoying it and loving it."
