Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus have been feuding for what feels like a very long time, and while we'd expected their final match to take place at SummerSlam, they'll instead square off in a Steel Cage during Saturday's Payback PLE.
It was back in May when they first went to war at Night of Champions, and the WWE Hall of Famer has now admitted she's looking forward to moving on from "The Man."
"It's a challenge. Am I a little scared of it? Yup. But that's what drives me. I'm going to prove to Becky that I'm the greatest of this generation by beating the greatest of her generation," Stratus says. "We've had a good little run and it's been really fun, but it's been a little long."
"I'm ready to move on, do other things, and cross paths with other people."
That suggests Stratus is under contract with WWE beyond this feud, and she later shared her excitement for the culmination of this rivalry by comparing it to "Michael Jordan vs. Lebron James" or "Muhammad Ali vs. Mike Tyson," using them as an example of the biggest stars of different eras who fought to decide the superior athlete.
In a separate interview, Stratus was also asked how it felt for her and Lynch's match to be missing from the SummerSlam card (the show is one of WWE's four big PLEs of the year alongside Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, and Survivor Series). However, she largely avoided anything that would sound critical of WWE.
"At the end of the day, as long as we deliver, as long as we leave the fans entertained, satisfied, Stratus-fied that’s what my goal is to come here and do the things we never got to do," she responded, "[and] show them something they’ve never [seen] before."
Lynch vs. Stratus promises to be a highlight during this weekend's Payback, with the show a good opportunity to finally wrap the storyline up.
