Two Former WWE Superstars Released During The Pandemic Turn Down Offer To Compete In ROYAL RUMBLE

WWE is looking to load this year's Royal Rumble matches with plenty of internet-breaking surprises for fans, but two former WWE Superstars turned down the chance to make their returns after being released.

WWE released countless Superstars during the pandemic, all in the name of budget cuts (despite an extremely profitable few years). The IIconics, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, were among them, but they've since joined IMPACT Wrestling and become the company's Knockouts Tag Team Champions.

They're being pushed there in a far more noteworthy way than when they held WWE's version of those titles, but neither woman has talked much about how they feel towards their former employers.

Now, Fightful is reporting that Cassie Lee (Peyton Royce) and Jess McKay (Billie Kay), a.k.a. The IInspiration, were offered the chance to compete in the Royal Rumble alongside IMPACT Wrestling's Knockouts Champion, Mickie James. It's said they're happy with their current path and didn't feel now was the right time to make their return to WWE (a sign perhaps they're open to it).

Lots of surprises are planned for both the men and women's Royal Rumble matches, with talk of more "Forbidden Door" entrants in the former. However, we're not expecting to see anyone from AEW despite the fact that would be a mind-blowing moment for WWE and AEW fans alike.

Keep checking back here for updates.
