When Endeavor acquired WWE, it and UFC were merged into a single company: TKO. While the pro wrestling and MMA giants are operating separately, the expectation is that we'll see a greater number of crossovers moving forward.
That could involve WWE Superstars stepping into the Octagon or, more likely, UFC fighters heading into the squared circle for professional wrestling matches.
While UFC President Dana White has previously been adamant about keeping crossovers to a minimum, it appears something has changed. And that something is Vince McMahon being ousted as WWE Chairman.
"Well, I didn't know [about Derrick Lewis/WWE talks], but yeah, I would do anything for Derrick Lewis. I really like Derrick Lewis a lot," he started. "Listen, some of the fighters who fight here have always dreamed about doing a WWE match or whatever it is. I don't have a problem with that."
"I mean, I didn't have a problem with that when Vince was consistently f*cking me for no reason, and now that that's not the case anymore, I obviously would absolutely do it," White concluded.
Since 2022, WWE has held almost all of its Premium Live Events on Saturday nights. That was a shift from Sundays and, as we write this, every announced WWE PLE in 2024 is currently scheduled for a Saturday.
According to White, the idea moving forward is for WWE to move back to Sundays so UFC events can take place during the same weekend on Saturday night.
"Yeah, we already have those dates set up right now, where Power Slap goes Friday and UFC goes Saturday. And then you’re going to see Friday, Power Slap, Saturday, UFC, and Sunday, WWE. You’ll start seeing that stuff, too."
This may be yet another post-Vince McMahon change, though we can't see this becoming the norm seeing as WWE President Nick Khan was the one who pushed for the move to Saturdays (in fact, he's said ticket sales have improved significantly as a result of the change).
