While the chances of Adam "Edge" Copeland returning to WWE to compete for the chance to face John Cena in "The Last Time Is Now" tournament are slim, it seems he won't be back in AEW for the foreseeable future.
In September, Copeland told Christian Cage that he needed some time away to find himself. That came after FTR had taken out his wife, Beth Phoenix, following his and Christian's win over Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler at All Out.
The original reason for his departure was filming commitments for Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 2. Now, though, PWInsider.com is reporting that Copeland is in London, England, to shoot The Beekeeper 2. He'll apparently be on set for that for the "majority of November."
That's a disappointing update, and there's some interesting chatter about Jon Moxley also doing the rounds online following some remarks from WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray.
Talking on Busted Open Radio, the pro wrestling pundit formerly known as Bubba Ray Dudley shared his belief that Mox's WWE return is an inevitability, despite him seemingly being an AEW lifer.
"Everybody will eventually come back to the WWE because if their eyes haven’t been opened already, their eyes will eventually open," he shared. "They will get every drop of money they can possibly get out of that company. And then they’ll get frustrated or realise this is not it for me anymore. Yes, I do believe everybody will eventually come back."
There was no way that Moxley would return to a WWE still run by Vince McMahon, but he may feel differently with Triple H now calling the shots.
While Rollins and Reigns have remained in WWE, the former WWE Champion has forged his own path in AEW and NJPW. As you might expect, he's proud of everything they've accomplished since first forming The Shield together in 2012.
"What they’ve done, it’s a really cool thing," Moxley said. "We were nobodies. We came in with attitudes, and we pretty much said, 'We’re coming in, f*ck you, and we’re taking this sh*t over.' The more time that passes, the more it becomes evident that we did exactly what we said we were going to do."
"I’m the first guy to hold all three - WWE, AEW, and IWGP. It feels so humbling to be put in this position," he continued. "It’s a different world with the IWGP title, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. So I’m going to storm the f*cking castle."
"Nothing lasts forever. You can’t take anything to the grave with you. One day you’re giving everything back to the universe, and the world keeps spinning. It could last three weeks, it could last three years–but to be in this position, it means as much to me as anything I’ve ever had in wrestling."
Would you like to see Jon Moxley return to WWE as Dean Ambrose?
