Former WWE Women’s Champion Victoria is warning Toni Storm to not burn any bridges.
The AEW Women’s World Champion has been conducting interviews as of late in conjunction with the upcoming All Out event. Toni Storm made one thing clear: she’s never going back to WWE. However, the 29-year-old never bashed the company, she stated during her appearance on The Sandman podcast that ,“They’re a machine, they’re a business, and I just don’t fit in with their whole shtick, and that’s cool.”
Harmless words, right? During this same interview, Storm stated that she was an AEW lifer.
“I’m on a five-year deal, and I can’t remember how long. But I’m a lifer for AEW. There’s no like, ‘Oh, well, I’ll see what happens.’ When I’m done wrestling, you’ll never see me again. You’ll never see me in any other capacity, or in any other company, for that matter. Exclusive. And then I will vanish with that. There’s no encore. I’m not doing anything else. Where would I go? What would I do? Because I’m on a long deal for AEW. I signed my life to AEW.”
Those words had Victoria say on So Cal Val on The Velvet Ropes (via WrestlingNews.co) that Toni should be careful about burning bridges.
“First of all, I love Toni Storm. I love her look, Marilyn,” Victoria started off. “Super sweet when you see her at a meet and greet, very thankful. And yeah, I love her, but you never bury a company. You know, we all learn this saying that ‘maybe that’s not the place for me,’ but every company changes every year. You never know when you’re going to go back or when they’re going to demand Toni Storm to make a comeback to WWE.”
She continued, “You don’t want to bash any company, and I’ve learned that lesson. I’ve done that before and shame on me, but I think you get very like in your head going, ‘I need to say what I am feeling right now.’ But social media is not the platform to go if I’m angry at a moment. You know what? Let me think about it tomorrow if I feel the same way, you know because social media is so easy to go on a rampage and you’re going to go the next day, ‘I shouldn’t have said that’.”
Victoria means well and she is right about never burning bridges with a company. Toni Storm might change her tune and end up back in WWE. However, Storm was rather respectful to WWE during the interview, so unless someone in that company is super sensitive to her saying that she’s an AEW lifer then I don’t think that what Toni said was wrong.
