For years, there's been speculation about why John Cena (without the aid of his team in the closing stages of the match) defeated The Nexus at SummerSlam back in 2010. Most believe it's because the leader of the Cenation didn't want to put the up and coming Superstars over but former team member Wade Barrett has now shed some light on what went down that day.

In the video below, Barrett explains that the finish for the Team Cena vs. Team Nexus match was changed on the day of the show. The original plan was for the latter group to emerge victorious but Vince McMahon told them that he wanted to send kids home happy and that "Summerslam needs to have a happy ending," a claim Barrett didn't believe then and still doesn't now.

After all, the past two SummerSlam PPVs have had controversial finishes and this does appear to support claims that Cena played a role in the match being changed. Barrett goes on to explain that he initially thought him this was a joke until it hit him that Cena was going over, something that left The Nexus damaged irreparably. Now, most of the team are no longer even with WWE!
