Rumors did the rounds earlier this week that Pat McAfee would be stepping away from the WWE announce desk for the foreseeable future, and the former NFL player has now released a statement on the matter.

"A lot of wrestling chatter about me right now," he Tweeted. "I think about wrestling every day. That dream isn’t done. My business is currently rather active and exigent…+ baby on the way…timing is everything. I still have MASSIVE plans for my journey to the WWE HOF someday. Believe that.”

Though McAfee could lose the run of himself at times, he brought an infectious energy to WWE commentary that had been sorely lacking, and Michael Cole actually stepped his game up when they were working together.

Wade Barrett is no slouch, but McAfee will certainly be missed on the SmackDown announce team.
