This weekend, WWE heads down under for Crown Jewel, a PLE that typically takes place in Saudi Arabia. Not much about the show will change, as the company's world champions will still compete for the prestigious "Crown Jewel Championship."
Before we get to that, you'll want to make note of a very different start time for the show. Due to the time difference, it kicks off at 8am ET/5am ET/1pm BST.
If you missed Wrestlepalooza last month, then you'll need access to ESPN to watch Crown Jewel. As a reminder, your first option is to subscribe directly to ESPN's "Unlimited" streaming service. The second will be through "TV Everywhere" authentication, which allows subscribers of participating television providers to access the event on the ESPN app.
Fortunately, if you're outside of the U.S., then it will be relatively easy to watch Crown Jewel, as the show is going to be available, as per usual, on Netflix.
Here's the confirmed match card for the show:
WWE Crown Jewel Championship Match
Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes vs. World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins
WWE Women's Crown Jewel Championship Match
WWE Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton vs. Women's World Champion Stephanie Vaquer
John Cena vs. AJ Styles
Australian Street Fight
Roman Reigns vs. Bronson Reed
Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky vs. The Kabuki Warriors (Asuka and Kairi Sane)
So, yes, another five-match card. Recently, The Fantastic Four: First Steps star and MLW wrestler Paul Walter Hauser spoke with TMZ Inside The Ring, and shared his disappointment with the current state of WWE.
"What they’re doing really well is things look pretty. They look pristine," he said. "The one-shot of leaving the SUV, walking through backstage, and going out. I love it. This five-match, $40 pay-per-view thing is garbage. Add two or three more matches. The fact that they lost Killer Kross it’s like, you’re stupid. You are just throwing away money."
Sharing his tale on AEW, Hauser added, "I think AEW is as well [diversified]. It skews a little New Japan for me. The no selling, the sort of PWG style of no selling 30 finishers, and then you have to basically kill someone to beat them. I do think that’s across the board problematic."
"I think a company like MLW, we bring Lucha, we bring hardcore, borderline deathmatch stuff. We bring women’s wrestling. We have someone you’ve never heard of versus an all-star classic 45-year-old wrestler," he concluded. "I think MLW is really good about diversification."
Are you looking forward to this weekend's Crown Jewel PLE?
