WWE kicked off a four-night UK tour yesterday evening in Cardiff, Wales. With tonight's episode RAW taped last week, Superstars from both that show and SmackDown were on hand for the non-televised event.
It opened with Intercontinental Championship Jey Uso defending his title against Bron Breakker. Ultimately, two Superkicks and a Spear put Breakker down.
Naomi defeated Money in the Bank briefcase holder Tiffany Stratton, while Andrade defeated Santos Escobar after the latter took aim at the Welsh fans for the "Just Sold My Car...To Santos Escobar" chants which began at last year's Money in the Bank PLE (for those of you wondering, they're inspired by a UK commercial for a car company).
Nia Jax put the WWE Women's Championship on the line against Bayley in a Street Fight and, after a competitive back-and-forth, Jax won after hitting an Annihilator on the babyface (on top of a steel chair, no less). However, Bayley got some measure of revenge when she powerbombed Jax through a table.
The first half of the show wrapped up with Gunter - a fan-favourite in the UK - defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Chad Gable. This was a pure wrestling match that showcased both men; however, as you might expect, it concluded with a Powerbomb from the champion.
The Bloodline (Jacob Fatu, Tama Tonga & Tonga Loa) battled Randy Orton & #DIY (Tomasso Ciampa & Johnny Gargano) in a six-man tag team match which saw The Viper hit an RKO for the win, while LA Knight then successfully defended his United States Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura.
In the main event, Cody Rhodes once again battled Solo Sikoa, this time with the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line inside a Steel Cage!
Rhodes hit Solo with a Cody Cutter from the side of the cage and #DIY hit the ring to drive off Tonga and Loa when they tried to interfere. Three Cross Rhodes later and Sikoa was down for the 1-2-3.
WWE will return to the UK next month for another tour, while it's been rumoured recently that Elimination Chamber could be held in the country next year. The company has made a point of holding PLEs there in recent years, including Clash at the Castle (twice) and, as noted, Money in the Bank.
