During Friday night's episode of SmackDown, fans were shocked to learn that IMPACT Knockouts Champion Mickie James would be part of the Women's Royal Rumble match. IMPACT Wrestling recently ended its working relationship with AEW, and many now wonder whether WWE is looking to form some sort of partnership with the company.

They certainly didn't shy away from mentioning James' ties to IMPACT during SmackDown, and it sounds like WWE is considering opening the "forbidden door" for the men's Rumble match as well.

It's hard to say who this could be and whether there's really anyone they can use who would excite fans. In an ideal world, someone from AEW like MJF or Jungle Boy would show up, but how much that would benefit AEW is hard to say (unless some sort of deal was made to have a WWE Superstar like Seth Rollins or Cesaro show up on Dynamite to challenge for the TNT Championship).

That seems like wishful thinking, unfortunately, but it sounds like the PPV will be worth keeping an eye on...

I don't think there's any way in hell that AEW guys cross over with WWE, or vice versa. There is way too much animosity and trash talking between the two companies.

And yes, MJF has mentioned WWE many times. But people need to get it through their head that he is doing that to gain even more heat. He's basically the ultimate kayfabe heel in all of wrestling right now. The guy never slips out of character, even at public appearances and signings. He will say anything to gain more heat.

Not to mention, WWE would put so many restrictions on him and make him use their scripts. And they would likely change his entire gimmick around and make him less of a big deal. There's no way he would want that, given how much he puts into his character, which is his own home grown gimmick.

The worst thing MJF could do is go to WWE. The wrestlers aren’t allowed to do anything without permission which is the antithesis to creativity and a genuine performance. Basically everything MJF has done on his own without “creative “ whispering lines in his ear. Hell, they’d probably do him like they did Booker T with the “who try e hell are you “ line.
