WWE Reportedly Not Happy About RING OF HONOR's Plans To Run A Show At Madison Square Garden
It was recently revealed that Ring of Honor was planning to promote an upcoming show at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York City, which has been the exclusive home of WWE events for decades...
It's now been confirmed that Ring of Honor is planning to promote a show at Madison Square Garden in 2019, and WWE is reportedly not very happy about it.
Since the 1920s, no other wrestling organization has held an event at the legendary arena, and according to Mike Johnson of PWInsiderElite.com, there's a chance WWE will attempt to do something about it.
I hear that WWE is very upset about the idea of Ring of Honor and AAA running that building. Apparently it just dawned on them that, 'Oh my god, someone else is going to run Madison Square Garden” for the first time since the 1920s.'
Johnson believes that Vince could try his best to put the brakes on Sinclair Broadcasting's plans for a show there, but even if that did happen, ROH would get plenty of extra attention from it.
“Maybe they shouldn’t have announced it this far out because if WWE does decide to try to throw the hammer down, it’s quite possible that we could be looking at Sinclair Broadcasting vs. WWE over the rights to run MSG. Let’s say something happens, right? And WWE prevents Sinclair from running and Sinclair makes a big stink out of this — either way it’s great publicity for Ring of Honor.”
