Wrestlepalooza has been and gone, and all eyes are now shifting to the upcoming Crown Jewel PLE. John Cena's retirement tour is also starting to wind down, and with Survivor Series: WarGames on the horizon, it's an exciting time for WWE fans.
In our latest rumour roundup, we have updates on scrapped Undisputed WWE Championship plans at Wrestlepalooza, Cena's final couple of months in the company, the latest on Roman Reigns' WWE return, and more.
Be warned that some possible spoilers for upcoming WWE shows may follow from this point on...
- BodySlam.net reveals that Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre pitched having Randy Orton inadvertently cost the American Nightmare the Undisputed WWE Championship at Wrestlepalooza. McIntyre would have won the title, freeing up Rhodes to chase after it again, with the stage set for an Orton heel turn in the near future. WWE rejected the idea.
- It's been widely reported that John Cena chose to lose to Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza. Now, Bryan Alvarez states that there will be no follow-up or rematch. The first WWE PLE on ESPN was it for them. Cena's priority is supposedly putting over talent on his way out the door.
- According to various advertisements, Brock Lesnar is set to compete in a big match at next year's WrestleMania in Las Vegas.
- WWE has filed a trademark for "Los Americanos," the expected team name for the three versions of the character currently causing chaos on RAW and in AAA.
- Talking of AAA, Lucha Libre Online has learned that the promotion will soon start matching basic NXT salaries for talent, helping them cover living costs, accommodation, and travel for their more frequent visits to the U.S.
- Roman Reigns will wrap shooting his role in Street Fighter in Australia on Thursday, but according to Fightful Select, "he's not expected to be on SmackDown this week."
- We know that the OTC will be at Crown Jewel in Perth, Australia, and we have some early betting odds for the PLE. World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins is an early favourite to pick up his first win over Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, while John Cena likely to defeat AJ Styles.
- Bryan Alvarez was first to share the news that Tiffany Stratton was set to defend the WWE Women's Championship against Jade Cargill and Nia Jax at Wrestlepalooza before the bout was postponed to this Friday's SmackDown. Now, Stratton has explained that it was a "precautionary" move after she took "a little bit of a rough landing" after previously hitting a moonsault to Cargill at ringside.
