At Saturday Night's Main Event last month, Chelsea Green was crowned the first-ever Women's United States Champion when she defeated Michin in the finals of a weeks-long tournament.
Despite the fact that Green is a heel, fans have gotten behind her in a big way but the same can't be said for Michin, unfortunately. The former OC member has struggled to connect with fans, something that's only been highlighted when she's shared the ring with someone as charismatic as Green.
Based on comments shared by @WrestleVotes, it appears WWE plans to take another shot at getting Michin over with a rematch at the next Saturday Night's Main Event on January 25 in San Antonio, Texas.
"Our last news bit of the portion here is staying with the women’s title news. We are hearing creative is considering having the rematch between Chelsea Green and Michin for the United States Women’s Championship to take place on the second edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event on January 25 in San Antonio. It is possible the encounter could be a stipulation match as a way to cap off their long-standing rivalry."
It's a logical choice of match for the show and one that should allow Green to highlight the newly introduced title. As for Michin, it's unclear what WWE has planned for her moving forward, though we don't expect her to dethrone the Women's United States Champion this soon into her reign.
During a recent interview, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes singled out Green for the way she's excelled and connected with fans by making the most of what she's been given to work with over the years.
"If you come to WWE, here’s a girl named Chelsea Green. She just won the first-ever WWE Women’s US Title. She is somebody who, everything you ever give her, makes the most of it. It seems like the generation that’s coming, and I could be totally wrong, this could just be old-man speak, it doesn’t seem like they have that mindset."
"I always went into it thinking the biggest I could possibly be. I met a guy, this was during my time away from WWE when I left, I remember him saying to me and my wife in the car, because he was running his own promotion, he said, 'I don’t know why everybody thinks so big.' In my mind, I’m like, connecting with Brandi [Rhodes] on a telepathic level. Like, 'This guy sucks.' Like, why wouldn’t we think big? Doesn’t mean we’re gonna hit big, but I’d rather go for it all, go all in. Go for it all, and then see where I land."
Who will you be rooting for at Saturday Night's Main Event?
