Following last night's SmackDown, WWE taped next Friday's show so the blue brand's Superstars can have some time off over the holidays.
This episode will air on December 20, while WWE also plans to tape the December 23 RAW following Monday's show. WWE will return to its live schedule on December 27 with SmackDown and RAW on December 30 (the final RAW on the USA Network before it moves to Netflix).
This Monday's live RAW will deal with the fallout from Saturday Night's Main Event, but WWE had to dance around spoilers while taping that December 20 show yesterday evening.
Here's a spoiler-filled breakdown of what you can expect from next week's SmackDown:
The new Bloodline opened the show with a promo, only for Drew McIntyre to interrupt. Following a heated exchange, the former WWE Champion left through the crowd.
That faction then faced LA Knight, Andrade, and Apollo Crews in a six-man tag team match which ended in chaos when Jacob Fatu brutally attacked Knight at ringside.
On a festive edition of the Grayson Waller Effect, Braun Strowman hit the ring dressed as Santa Claus, leading to a rematch with Carmelo Hayes. This time, the heel upstart picked up the win over the Monster Among Men. Johnny Gargano, meanwhile, defeated Alex Shelley in singles competition.
Finally, we got a Women's Tag Team Championship Match with Bianca Belair and Naomi retaining the titles over Nia Jax & Candice LeRae.
"Being on Fox, if the crowd chants 'holy shi*t' or something worse, they take the audio [out]," Triple H said earlier this year of RAW's move to Netflix. "Sometimes, they take the picture and the audio out and it’s a black screen. The Rock comes in and you can’t tell what The Rock to do. He does what he does. We won’t have those issues with Netflix."
"The ability to be live globally and be seen live everywhere is a game-changing moment. In many ways, that’s sort of where the world is heading; streaming services. The NFL is sticking its toe in the water. NBA, every sport."
"It’s why this Netflix deal, for us, is so game-changing and everyone is going to be watching us in January, especially other sports, from the business side, they’re going to be watching to see what we do, what we do differently, and how it’s received," The Game concluded.
During last night's SmackDown, WWE confirmed that Roman Reigns will battle Solo Sikoa during the first RAW on Netflix.
