Matt Riddle has a habit of making headlines for the wrong reasons, but his comments over the weekend on social media have prompted a full-blown investigation by the Port Authority over an alleged sexual assault at JFK Airport.
Taking to Instagram in a since-deleted post, Riddle said, "Nothing like being sexually assaulted by an officer and harassed at the [JFK Airport], no means no and just because I'm nice doesn't mean yes! Asshole!"
"Don't know [their] Twitter or Instagram handles but I took pictures. Normally I'm like whatever but today was really weird and uncomfortable and they made a point to make me feel small and useless. Definitely one of the most uncomfortable travel days l've ever had. Thanks, NYC - you're so progressive and accepting!"
The WWE Superstar accompanied the post with a photo of a JFK Airport employee.
Needless to say, accusations like this are taken seriously and TMZ is reporting that law enforcement sources have told them Port Authority officers "got a call for a disorderly person who was deplaning, and they met him in the terminal. As it turns out, that was Riddle."
The police supposedly talked to Riddle and other witnesses, with the WWE Superstar said to be apologetic when questioned. No police report was filed and everyone was free to leave. It's unclear what prompted Riddle to later allege he'd been sexually assaulted.
However, the site's sources say the Port Authority was "shocked" by his claims as they don't believe anything happened to warrant such a serious accusation. An internal probe has now been launched.
We'll keep you updated but if this is another example of Riddle's antics causing problems out in the world...well, it could be the straw that broke the camel's back for WWE, particularly in a week where the merger with Endeavor is expected to close.
