Both Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have re-signed with WWE. And they want those tag team titles back.
Yesterday marked the 100th day that Finn Balor and JD McDonagh have held the WWE Tag Team titles. The problem? These two have only defended those belts once and that was back in July; the match was against LWO’s Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde. Finn is not injured. Neither is JD. For some strange reason, WWE doesn’t seem to care too much about the RAW tag team division when they put the belts on Judgment Day.
Their last run went for 175 days and they only had two title defenses before dropping them to The War Raiders on December 16, 2024. It’s simply unknown why Finn & JD have not defending those titles, but Xavier Woods is fed up with the lack of respect that duo has shown in the last few months and made it known on his social media.
Adam Pierce has not responded to Xavier’s post yet. Neither has JD or Balor. The New Day had an extremely short run with the belts after they beat The War Raiders for them at WrestleMania 41, yet they’ve had as many title defenses as Finn & JD. Sami Zayn has held the United States Championship for 41 days and he's defended it five times already.
RAW’s tag team division has gained several tag teams in recent months as Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed are a notable duo. The Uso’s are back, though that seems short term based on the story being told. Even El Americano has a team now. Based on Monday, so does AJ Styles and Dragon Lee. They add to Alpha Academy’s Otis (who’s injured) and Akira Tozawa, American Made (who vanished since Chad Gable’s injury), LWO, New Catch Republic (who are reportedly the New Americanos), and of course, The New Day. This is a solid division on paper, but WWE doesn't seem to know what to do with it.
AJ Styles and Dragon Lee seem to be next in line for the belts based on their interaction on RAW. However, Xavier Woods is completely right about the treatment of the division as a whole. Hopefully this changes as WWE has a talented set of tag teams who are wasting away doing nothing.
