Two matches have been added to the lineup for AEW Worlds End, set to go down at the Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida on Saturday, December 28, 2024.
Last week, Adam Cole and Kyle O'Reilly were the final two men standing in the Dynamite Dozen Battle Royal. Tonight on AEW Dynamite, they battled it out to see who would get the opportunity to face Maxwell Jacob Friedman for the Dynamite Diamond Ring at Worlds End.
Despite some interference from MJF, who tried to cost Cole the match by hitting him with the ring, Cole was able to avoid that attack, superkick MJF away from the ring, and snag O'Reilly in a roll-up to get the victory. O'Reilly wasn't willing to shake Cole's hand after the match, as he still blames Cole (as well as Mike Bennet and Matt Taven) for what happened to Roderick Strong.
Whether that is an omen for things to come remains to be seen, but Cole now has a shot at being the first person to hold that Dynamite Diamond Ring other than MJF, who has kept it in his possession since winning it in the inaugural contest.
On top of this, we now know what Jon Moxley will be doing for the AEW World Championship, as he decided to call out three of his adversaries and book a four-way for the title with himself against "Freshly Squeezed" Orange Cassidy, "Switchblade" Jay White, and "Hangman" Adam Page.
Moxley cut a promo backstage about how all three of their egos are getting in their own ways, and that that is a symptom that plagues All Elite Wrestling as a whole. But he thrives on having a dynamite stick in his hand and that kind of pressure is good for him, so he clearly is out to test himself against the harshest of challenges.
This brings the updated AEW Worlds End card's lineup to the following matches:
- Singles Match for the Dynamite Diamond Ring: MJF vs. Adam Cole
- AEW Continental Classic Semifinals & Finals
- Four-Way Match for the AEW World Championship: Jon Moxley (c) vs. “Hangman” Adam Page vs. Jay White vs. Orange Cassidy
As far as the AEW Continental Classic is concerned, two matches took place on Dynamite that further along that tournament. Ricochet defeated Brody King by pinfall and Will Ospreay defeated Claudio Castagnoli (also by pinfall). As such, both Ricochet and Ospreay are now tied with Castagnoli at the top of the Gold League leaderboard.
