Preview & Predictions for AEW Dynamite:
On tap for tonight's episode, the brackets for the men's and women's Owen Hart Foundation tournaments will be announced. So far, Will Ospreay, "Hangman" Adam Page, and "Switchblade" Jay White have been announced for the men's tournament, and the women's will consist at least of Mercedes Mone, Athena, Billie Starkz, Jamie Hayter, Kris Statlander, and Thunder Rosa.
Will Ospreay is set to return, but AEW hasn't announced if he'll be wrestling anyone in particular, or if he'll just be cutting a promo or doing some non-wrestling action.
"Timeless" Toni Storm will face Penelope Ford, who will have Megan Bayne in her corner. Storm will win, and Bayne will end up fighting with Storm after the match to look strong heading into AEW Dynasty when she challenges for the AEW Women's World Championship.
"The Rated-R Superstar" Cope will face Claudio Castagnoli to continue his feud with The Death Riders ahead of his trios title match alongside FTR for Dynasty. Look out for that to devolve into all six men, if not more, fighting with each other, too.
Lastly, The Death Riders will be in mixed tornado tag team action as the world champion Jon Moxley teams with Marina Shafir against his challenger for the title at Dynasty, Swerve Strickland, and his partner, Willow Nightingale. It's an easy way to have Nightingale pin Shafir so Swerve gains momentum before the pay-per-view, and again, this wouldn't be shocking if more people got involved and had a fight after the match.
All that and more will go down, so be sure to keep refreshing for updates throughout the show!
Here are your results for AEW Dynamite April 2, 2025:
- It was announced at the start of the show that "Switchblade" Jay White had been attacked at some point by The Death Riders. As a result, he's being removed from the Owen Hart Cup tournament this year and replaced by Kevin Knight.
- Mixed Tornado Tag Team Match: Swerve Strickland and Willow Nightingale defeated Death Riders (Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir) by pinfall. Moxley laid out Nightingale with a Paradigm Shift after the match.
- Dax Harwood apologized to referee Paul Turner (and paid him his $10,000 fine directly) and to Cash Wheeler, who said they're going to have to talk after AEW Dynasty.
- "Timeless" Toni Storm defeated Penelope Ford by pinfall.
- MVP and Bobby Lashley (no Shelton Benjamin due to weather issues preventing his travel) had an in-ring promo with MJF. Lashley once again said that he doesn't want MJF in The Hurt Syndicate. MJF took that as him needing to prove himself and left. Big Bill and Bryan Keith then came out after MJF left and had an intimidation moment with Lashley and MVP before squashing two enhancement talents.
- Will Ospreay and Kevin Knight defeated Blake Christian and Lee Johnson by pinfall.
- The Opps had a backstage promo. Samoa Joe explained that The Opps will be watching at Dynasty.
- Brody King defeated Lance Archer by pinfall.
- Cope defeated Claudio Castagnoli by pinfall.
- Renee Paquette asked Swerve Strickland for an update on Willow Nightingale's medical status. He told her with all due respect, he's looking for her husband, Jon Moxley. Out of nowhere, "Hangman" Adam Page approaches him, saying that he's promised that Swerve won't hold the world title again and he's a man of his word. Page said Swerve deserved his house being burned down and Swerve said "I know", which threw Hangman off so much he walked away. Death Riders then jumped Strickland. They brought him into the ring and slammed him on top of some broken glass. Death Riders walked off, and Swerve stood up defiantly to end the show.
