Preview & Predictions for AEW Dynamite:
On tap for tonight's episode, AEW World Champion "Hangman" Adam Page continues his feud with The Death Riders as he goes up against Wheeler Yuta. Since Yuta is the whipping boy of that group who can't seem to get out of that rut unless he's in a tag team match with other people who can get the win, obviously Yuta is going to lose this. And since this is professional wrestling, the rest of The Death Riders will be involved and some allies for Page will also come out. This is primarily a means for Page to get another win, to stretch this story out, and to get another brawl in the mix. Eventually, we'll get a Blood & Guts match, I suppose. Aren't we overdue for that at this point in the year?
The women's world champion will also be in action as "Timeless" Toni Storm is in an eliminator match (aka a No. 1 contender's match—no idea why everyone decided to stop calling it that recently) against Billie Starkz. All things considered, since Athena is the de facto No. 1 contender by proxy of winning the Casino Gauntlet Match at All In, and she's aligned with Starkz, I don't anticipate any kind of success here for Starkz. This is a means for Storm to beat Athena's ally and to continue telling that story, and there isn't any benefit to Starkz winning unless Tony Khan just wants to have two matches between them, as Starkz would obviously lose the title match that would come in the future. Plus, there isn't much of a positive to having Storm lose to Athena's protege.
This is also a show that is being tied into promoting Shark Week. Hopefully, there will be some fun gimmicky things associated with that throughout the night.
Here are your results for AEW Dynamite - July 23, 2025:
- "Hangman" Adam Page defeated Wheeler Yuta by pinfall. After the match, Page beat Yuta some more with a chain and bloodied him up.
- AEW World Tag Team Championship #1 Contender’s Tournament First Round Match: FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) defeated JetSpeed (Kevin Knight & “Speedball” Mike Bailey) by pinfall with some help from Stokely Hathaway's interference. After the match, Stokely Hathway cut a promo on Adam Copeland spearing him last week. Cope then came out and said that while he can't come within a certain amount of feet of them, he made a business deal with The Hurt Syndicate. Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin, and MVP came out and the tag team champions went after Dax and Cash.
- Nick Wayne, Mother Wayne, and Kip Sabian are planning to start showing (this Saturday) what they are capable of when they're not held down by a patriarch and are "uncaged".
- Jon Moxley is ready to right his mistakes and win back his world title.
- Promo: Will Ospreay has been dealing with neck issues for months, but wanted to make sure the title changed hands. He's hoping he'll be back for Forbidden Door, and he's going to be coming for the Death Riders when he's back.
- Interview: Willow Nightingale wants a match against Thekla.
- MJF was upset over The Hurt Syndicate helping Copeland, which MVP considered a business arrangement. Lashley was then pissed about MJF being all about himself.
- AEW Women's World Championship Eliminator Match: "Timeless" Toni Storm (c) defeated Billie Starkz by submission. After the match, Starkz and Athena beat down Storm. Alex Windsor made the save.
- Swerve Strickland defeated Hechicero by disqualification after Lance Archer got involved. Bandido made the save with Brody King. Kazuchika Okada hit Strickland from behind with a steel chair.
- Mark Briscoe defeated Claudio Castagnoli by pinfall. After the match, The Death Riders went on the attack, but Page came out and brought everything to a halt by saying he and Moxley will have a title rematch next week on Dynamite where everyone is banned from ringside so he can prove himself.
