AEW’s final pay-per-view of 2024 is upon us.
In the main event, Jon Moxley will defend the AEW World Championship against four men who have no love loss for the Death Rider leader. The AEW title = power, and Moxley has used his power over the past couple of months to burn down the forest the best way he can.
However, Orange Cassidy has been a thorn in Moxley’s side since his return. The former International Champion is looking to take away that power from Moxley tonight and has tried to get the help of Hangman Page and Jay White to do it.
Page and White have their own issues with not just Mox, but themselves and Cassidy. Both men are coming off a heated rivalry that saw the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion emerge victorious. This four way match is expected to be pure chaos, which could be a huge advantage for the AEW World Champion.
The Continental Classic will reach its climax tonight. Ricochet, Will Ospreay, Kyle Fletcher, and Kazuchika Okada are in the semi-finals; each man has gotten here in different ways. Ricochet has embraced his dark side and is doing anything to make sure he walks out a winner. Kyle Fletcher has been dominant throughout, with the young star even beating the Continental Champion in the tournament.
Will Ospreay stumbled a bit since his devastating loss to Fletcher at Full Gear, but he was able to find his groove and beat Brody King to advance into the semi-finals. Okada had his ups and downs in the past several weeks, but the Continental Champion always shows up for the big matches and that should be no different here. Who will emerge as the new Continental Champion?
Also, Mariah May has an unexpected battle against a former Women’s World Champion who was quietly rising through the rankings. Thunder Rosa knows what it takes to be a world champion and since this is a Tijuana Street Fight, the challenger comes in with some serious advantage. Could she end Mariah May’s title reign?
