The future of the Edge & Christian tag team reunion is at jeopardy if the newest match proposed for AEW Double or Nothing 2026 gets approved.
On the April 22, 2026 edition of AEW Dynamite, Adam Copeland had a backstage pre-taped promo where he put out a challenge to FTR for a New York Street Fight to take place on Double or Nothing. To incentivize Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood into granting Copeland and Christian Cage another shot at the AEW Men's World Tag Team Championship titles, there is a stipulation attached to the match that if FTR can win, Cage and Cope will retire as a tag team and no longer partner up. This would surely cement FTR in the discussion for being the greatest tag team of all time if they were to end such an iconic team.
The match has not yet been made official, as FTR have yet to respond to the challenge. Even Christian Cage hasn't voiced his thoughts, given it was a Copeland only promo. Those reactions will seemingly take place either on AEW Collision or next week's episode of Dynamite. However, given the way professional wrestling promotes things, it is exceedingly rare that a match challenge like this isn't agreed to, so it might as well be considered a guarantee.
That makes the current lineup for AEW Double or Nothing out to be this card so far:
- PENDING — New York Street Fight for the AEW Men's World Tag Team Championship: FTR (c) vs. Adam Copeland and Christian Cage
- Singles Match for the AEW International Championship: Kazuchika Okada (c) vs. Konosuke Takeshita
AEW Double or Nothing is scheduled to take place Sunday, May 24, 2026 at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York. Be sure to check back for live coverage of the results here at TheRingReport for that pay-per-view to find out if that was the end of Cage and Cope, or if a new set of tag team champions are crowned.
