Dustin Rhodes remains All Elite.
The current ROH World Tag Team Champion announced on social media that he will remain in AEW until his in-ring career ends as the promotion feels like home to him.
It’s not particularly surprising that Dustin Rhodes stayed with AEW since he is the ROH World Tag Team Champion with Sammy Guevara and a ROH Six-Man Tag Team Champion with Marshall and Ross Von Erich. The Von Erich’s haven’t competed since September because Ross has been sidelined with a torn pec. Tony hasn't provided an update on when Ross will be able to wrestle again, but for now, the belts remain on Dustin and The Von Erichs.
Though Dustin has been mainly competing in Ring of Honor, he brings a lot of value to the company backstage as well. He works as a coach for numerous talents on the roster, and it helps to have a veteran of Dustin’s nature in AEW.
It was reported by Sean Ross Sapp that Dustin’s contract with the promotion was set to expire sometime in the fall. There was some hope that he would reunite with his brother Cody in WWE, but for the most part, there was never much speculation on the 55-year-old going back to his former employer. Dustin has spoken in the past about his terrible experience towards the end of his last run with WWE, though that was during a time when Vince McMahon was still in charge.
Dustin came into AEW back in 2019 and had an amazing match against Cody at Double or Nothing. Since then, he’s mainly played the veteran role and the AEW star has pulled off impressive performances for a guy his age; in fact, it seems that Dustin has only been getting better as time goes by.
The ROH World Tag Team Champion is scheduled for Wrestle Dynasty on January 5th as him and Sammy Guevara will take on HOUSE OF TORTURE (SHO & Yoshinobu Kanemaru) for their respective titles. Let’s hope Dustin is given more time in the spotlight before he hangs up the boots for good.
