Saraya, better known to WWE fans as Paige, is now a free agent following a largely disappointing run in AEW. While her return to the ring was celebrated by fans after what appeared to be a career-ending neck injury, Tony Khan dropped the ball on Saraya's booking.
It isn't clear what's next for Saraya, though a WWE return seems inevitable (that's also something she's expressed interest in on multiple occasions).
During a recent interview, Saraya revealed that, for the time being, she plans to stop away from the squared circle.
"If I do wrestle again, I’m gonna take this year to step outside of it," the former WWE Divas Champion confirmed. "I will be going to Natty’s [Natalya Neidhart’s] training school getting some reps under me so then when I do come back, I’m back to being how I wrestled before because I felt like I wasn’t giving it my entire all these past couple of years."
"I know that I was frustrated with myself. I know I could be better than that. So I’m gonna go back and, like, relearn my life again."
Despite all the excitement surrounding a WWE return, Saraya later claimed that, as of now, she's yet to engage in any conversations with her former employers. "It’s nice to know that people care and want me back there in WWE, but I haven’t had a conversation with them," she shared. "I just want people to know that, like. I haven’t spoken to them in any way."
"But if there’s something special on the horizon, I would do it, just depending on a lot of things," Saraya added. "I love that place. It’s where I grew up. They raised me. They supported me through everything when I should have got fired. They are amazing. So I always have wonderful things to say about them."
"Now that I’m a free agent, I feel comfortable to show my love for everyone, you know," she said. "I love AEW. I love WWE. I just had the best wrestling career that I could ask for. But I know that there’s still stuff left in the tank, so we’ll see where that ends up."
We'd be shocked if WWE hasn't reached out to Saraya, and with the former AEW star set to be in Las Vegas for WrestleCon, there's at least a chance she could show up on the RAW after WrestleMania.
