Where is Jamie Hayter?
The former AEW Women’s World Champion seemed to vanish mysteriously following the January 22nd episode of Dynamite. That night, Hayter was able to avenge her loss against former TBS Champion Julia Hart. While many thought it was another case where AEW didn’t have any creative plans for the 29-year-old, it appears that it’s a simple visa issue that Hayter is trying to get resolved. Fightful Selects Sean Ross Sapp was the first to report the news, but Hayter decided to save people the time and money by confirming it herself.
Hayter made her surprising AEW return at All In last year. The AEW star was out for a lengthy period of time because she suffered two completely herniated discs in her back in 2023. Unfortunately, it cut off a big point in her career as Hayter was the world champion at that time. She was well regarded by fans and the company seemed to be building towards a Hayter vs. Dr. Britt Baker feud, but once her injury was confirmed then Hayter had to drop the belt to pre-timeless Toni Storm.
Hayter came back and instantly feuded with Saraya, who was one of the culprits responsible for putting her out of action (storyline wise). Once she beat Saraya in a Saraya Rules match at Grand Slam then Hayter moved on to Julia Hart. Though she wasn’t in the TBS or AEW Women’s World title picture, it seems as if Tony Khan was priming her up to be a future challenger for either belt.
I don’t know if Toni Storm is retaining the world title at Revolution, but her and Hayter could have a great feud if she does. Storm was a part of The Outcasts group with Saraya and Ruby Soho, thus she was part of the assault that kept Hayter out of action for over a year.
As far as when we could see Hayter return, she never gives any indication on when those visa issues will be resolved. Of course, once word about Hayter’s return leaks then we’ll surely spread the exciting news. Hopefully, Hayter will dive right into the title picture.
