Former AEW Women's World Champion Thunder Rosa Says That She's Taking Some Time Off

The former AEW Women's World Champion has been missing from AEW television for quite some time and Thunder Rosa has revealed that's because she's taking some time off.

Thunder Rosa is taking some time away from the ring.

The former AEW Women’s World Champion has been quite busy during All In weekend as Rosa challenged Athena for the ROH World Women’s Championship at Supercard of Honor. She was also one of the participants in the Women’s Casino Battle Royale. But since the Battle Royale, Rosa has been missing from AEW television.

Fans noticed this immediately and questioned what was going on with the 39-year-old and Rosa finally addressed her absence by confirming that she was taking a break for the time being.

“Hello, Thunder Army. This is the wrap of this All In extravaganza, because it was an extravaganza. Definitely it was a lot of work. It was mission accomplished and you guys were a big part of it and now I deserve a well-earned resting time. Yeah, resting time off. Who knows?”

“The weekend was long. Today was All In. I didn’t get the results that I wanted and I got some time off. To be continued.”

Dave Meltzer first addressed Thunder Rosa’s absence and he claimed that Rosa was dealing with an injury, though it was nothing serious. Rosa certainly had a huge weekend so it wouldn’t be surprising if she had something going on given that both of the matches she participated in were hard hitting and brutal.

Rosa never gives a timetable for her return. She likely won’t be apart of the upcoming Forbidden Door show in late August, though that’s just speculation on my end. Despite not being a champion, Rosa has been quite busy this year in AEW. She’s competed in multiple eliminator and tag team matches, plus she was one of the wrestlers in the Owen Hart Tournament.

However, All In was her first AEW pay-per-view since her AEW World Women's Title match against Mariah May at World’s End in December. Rosa does vlog on her Youtube channel so she’ll likely update everyone on when she’s lacing up the boots again. Rosa seemed to be heading into a feud against AEW newcomer Thekla, who was feuding with Queen Aminata. There’s no word on whether that will pick up once she returns, but hopefully it does as that can turn out to be a real show stealer.
