Toni Storm is…coming to Ring of Honor?
It seems that more of AEW’s top stars are heading to the promotion as AEW confirmed that “Rockstar” Toni Storm will be making her debut for the promotion this Thursday at Boxing Day Brawl.
This week’s Ring of Honor was pre-taped during AEW’s visit to the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, though no spoilers on Storm wrestling for ROH were leaked as of yet.
The former AEW Women’s World Champion made her shocking return at Winter is Coming earlier this month, but the 29-year-old didn’t return as the Timeless character. Storm came back as her original self and AEW has been playing up an amnesia angle as the AEW star doesn’t even remember her previous run in the company.
It’s quite the clever story that justifies why Storm isn’t immediately going after Mariah May. Plus, it keeps her busy and allows women like Thunder Rosa a chance to fight for the AEW Women’s World title. As of this writing, there’s no telling if this is a one off appearance or not. It should be fun to see what Toni does in Ring of Honor.
Could we get Athena vs. Toni Storm?
Athena did recently reply to a tweet stating that the young and upcoming Storm had what it takes to be in MIT.
That would be a fun feud and given Storm’s current character, she can eat a loss for now. Of course, there’s also the possibility that Storm could beat Athena for the belt, but it would be surprising if Tony Khan opted to have one of their top performers mainly competing in ROH.
Either way, it’s a fun way to get some eyes on the Ring of Honor product. Though given the holiday week, it might’ve not been the best time to have Storm debut for the promotion. Hopefully, she’s given something meaningful to do that helps enhance her character while putting a bigger shine on the women’s division in ROH, which is pretty strong at the moment.
Toni Storm in action joins several advertised matches including Blake Christian vs. AR Fox, Lee Johnson vs. Serpentico, and Tommy Billington & Katsuyori Shibata vs. Premier Athletes.
