Private Party is still alive! Well, at least Isiah Kassidy.
On October 30, 2024, Private Party shocked the world when they beat The Young Bucks for the AEW World Tag Team Championship. Fans were excited for a long and well deserved title reign, but unfortunately, Tony Khan had different plans.
After three months, The Hurt Syndicate dominated their match against Private Party and won the AEW World Tag Team titles. Then, Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen simply vanished from television. We haven’t heard from the duo in months, until Kassidy and Quen popped up at the recent House of Glory show last weekend.
But that wasn’t when the duo promised to win back their championship gold.
Isaiah Kassidy uploaded on his Youtube channel and talked about him and Quen losing the tag team championships. The AEW star promises to win those belts back someday (Transcript courtesy of Fightful).
We lost the [frick]ing championships. We lost the [frick]ing championships. We lost it. But you know what? I’ll forever be grateful that we had championships. That’s something nobody could take away from us, that we were once a tag team champion for a nationally televised company. We are in the history books. Personally, I had a bucket list. I had a personal bucket list that I wanted to do with the championship, and I’m pretty sure I knocked out everything. I remember, I thought it’d be a really cool moment to have us as the AEW Tag Team Championship and then have Danny [Garcia] as the TNT Champion, and we did that. We had a moment where we was all champions.
Yes, me and Danny went out with the championship to the club a couple of times. That’s another thing I wanted to knock off. I wanted to go to the club and bring my championship with me, and I did that twice. I definitely made a scene because you gotta make a scene. There was also this dope-ass picture a fan made. He was in Ohio, and it was like the Xbox achievement, and me, Danny, and Quen, we was all with our championships, and it was like when you beat a level in Xbox, and it had that little notification, it said, ‘Feeling restored.’ So I thought that was pretty cool.
Kassidy went on to describe one of the coolest things he’s done as a champion and how that moment was really special to him:
I got to show it to my family. One of the main things, coolest things that I would say I’ve done is be a champion while my favorite wrestlers, my idols, the guys who got me into this business, is also champions. That meant a lot to me. That was a really special moment, the fact that Quen and I were champions for a nationally televised company in our world, and then The Hardys, they were also tag team champions in their world. I feel like once you got the championship, you’re the best tag team in the world.
That’s just my opinion. So we was on the same mountain as The Hardys for being the best tag team in the world at one point. We gonna get back there, I promise. We going to get those championships back, I promise. So that was a really cool moment because y’all know I’m a [frick]ing mark, let’s be honest. Y’all know how special that is to me."
There’s no word on when the Private Party could return. The duo hasn’t been on AEW television since dropping the belts back in January. It’s possible that AEW is putting them on the sidelines to challenge Lashley and Benjamin for the belts later in the year, but that’s just pure speculation as the company has not given any indication that they will continue their feud with The Hurt Syndicate. Hopefully, AEW has something good in mind for Private Party when they return as they’re too talented to be sitting on the sidelines.
