The Road to the semi-finals is coming to an end.
This Saturday is AEW’s final pay-per-view of 2024, World’s End. The Continental Classic is scheduled to end at the annual event and the latest chapter of the tournament has Ricochet, Will Ospreay, and Claudio Castagnoli tied at 9 points each in the gold league.
Kyle Fletcher is the leader of the blue league at 12 points, though the Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada is right behind him with 10 points. Tonight’s tournament matches will surely help the semi-final matches take shape.
For the first time ever, Darby Allin will take on Ricochet. The former TNT Champion had a banger with Will Ospreay last week and pulled out a clean victory over the former International Champion. Ricochet beat Will Ospreay too, but the former WWE United States Champion used dirty tactics to beat his arch nemesis. With this new found attitude, will Ricochet pull ahead in the leadership using heel tactics? Or will Darby Allin outsmart and out-wrestle the AEW star?
Claudio Castagnoli had a notable setback last week when he lost to Darby Allin, but he has a chance to move back up in the leaderboard if he beats Komander, who has no chance at making the semi-finals since he’s stuck in last place. Still, that doesn’t mean that Komander can’t pull off an upset victory over the Death Rider member.
In another first time match-up, Kazuchika Okada will square up against The Hurt Syndicate’s Shelton Benjamin. The latter has a chance to move up in the rankings and go into the semi-finals if he beats Okada, but that’s easier said than done.
