The Young Bucks Screw Swerve Strickland, Return At AEW Dynasty In World Title Match

Matt and Nick Jackson have returned to AEW in emphatic fashion by interfering in the main event of AEW Dynasty to cost Swerve Strickland the world title.

In the main event of AEW Dynasty 2025, Jon Moxley was in for the fight of his life against Swerve Strickland with the AEW World Championship on the line.

Those two beat the tar out of each other in a clash that took its toll out on several others who were ringside, including the commentary team and referees.

Things got even more chaotic once the referee was taken out, as there were a handful of moments wherein Strickland might have had a successful pinfall if an official was there to precede over the three-count. However, with the ref down, that will be unknown.

Another unknown is whether or not "Hangman" Adam Page was going to cost Strickland the title, which is a promise he's made many times since they've been embroiled in their bitter rivalry. On this past Wednesday's episode of Dynamite, however, Strickland threw Hangman for a loop when he said that he knows he deserved to get his house burned down. Page seemed conflicted about doing his Buckshot Lariat, and before he could even choose to do it to Swerve (or Moxley, potentially), he was attacked by the rest of The Death Riders.

The Opps then came out to make the save and even the odds, going after Claudio Castagnoli, PAC, and Wheeler Yuta, which may indicate they are the next in line to challenge for the AEW World Trios Championships now that Rated FTR has not only failed in that task, but broke up, too.

Despite all this frenzy, and the momentum shifting back in Swerve's favor, the next thing to happen was for the lights to go out. When they came back on, to everyone's surprise, The Young Bucks were in the ring, holding Strickland in position for an EVP Trigger.

Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson last competed at New Japan Pro Wrestling's New Beginning in Osaka when they dropped the IWGP Tag Team Championship titles to Los Ingobernables de Japon (Hiromu Takahashi and Tetsuya Naito), and previously were in action in All Elite Wrestling all the way back to October 30, 2024 on the Fright Night Dynamite special.

What this means for why The Young Bucks attacked Swerve Strickland has yet to be revealed. Did they do this out of support of Jon Moxley and The Death Riders, or did they do it to specifically prevent Strickland from winning the title, or some other motive?
