Former WWE Superstar Bray Wyatt (Windham Rotunda) Is Reportedly Heading To AEW
WWE has released countless big names this year, and AEW has made a point of signing those up with the most potential. Now, it's looking like Bray Wyatt will be next to declare himself "All Elite." Check it out!
CM Punk broke the internet when he debuted during Friday night's episode of AEW Rampage, but he's not the only former WWE Superstar heading to AEW.
While there have been rumblings this might be the case, Dave Meltzer noted on a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that Bray Wyatt is expected to sign with AEW imminently. He remains under a non-compete with WWE (meaning he can't legally go ahead and join another company on an official basis right now), but the belief seems to be that he will soon be "All Elite."
"He’s obviously not the only return," Meltzer said, referring to Punk's AEW debut. "We’re gonna see a lot of different people coming up including Bray Wyatt. It’s not 100 percent, his non-compete is not up. It’s most likely happening. It’s at the same stage when I said Aleister Black, long before it happened. It’s the same stage. I don’t think there’s pen to paper or anything like that."
He concluded by teasing, "It’s an expectation that’s pretty strong, put it that way."
Wyatt, real name Windham Rotunda, was released by WWE on July 31 after being sidelined following a loss to Randy Orton at this year's WrestleMania. There had been rumours of an injury, but at the time of his release, the former Fiend was cleared and preparing to step back into the ring.
Something tells us he'll do amazingly well in AEW, and given the lack of direction The Dark Order has had since Brodie Lee's tragic passing, we wouldn't be surprised if he's involved with that somehow.
