The 32-man competition continued over the weekend with more competitors guaranteeing their spot in the second round. One of the tournament favorites and former IWGP Heavyweight champion Kazuchika Okada was able to defeat Michael Elgin in a tight back-and-forth match.

Okada has history with the current IWGP Heavyweight champion Jay White, with the Bullet Club leader owning a one-on-one victory over the longest reigning heavyweight champion at Wrestle Kingdom 13. Surely, Okada would love to avenge his loss to the BC leader.

NEVER Openweight champion Will Ospreay was successful in his bout against Bad Luck Fale. Ospreay is another man looking to avenge his loss to the current IWGP Heavyweight champion, who gave a valiant effort against White at the 47th Anniversary show.

In the second round, one of the tournament favorites is already gone from the competition. Tetsuya Naito lost to Kota Ibushi in a tremendous back-and-forth affair.

Former IWGP Heavyweight champion Hiroshi Tanahashi was luckily able to secure his spot in the second round of the tournament. Could we be in store for another big comeback from the former heavyweight champion?
