Before the match-up, Sabian cut a promo about how privileged Page was due to his status with The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, and Kenny Omega.

“Superbad” had something to prove by showing the fans of AEW that “Hangman” was overrated; however, the #1 contender for the AEW World Championship shut down that notion by getting the victory. Story of the match was Page selling his knee injury that he suffered about two months ago, with Sabian taking advantage of the opportunity every chance he got.

However, after "Hangman" launched Sabian outside the ring with a brutal powerbomb, the match was pretty much done. “Superbad” got the advantage again by attacking the leg, but Page was able to come back and connect with the Rite of Passage for the three count. Once the match was over, Chris Jericho attacked Page and left him with a bloody eye after connecting with the Judas Effect.
