The debut edition of AEW Dynamite on TNT for October 2, 2019 took place at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC.

Here is a recap of the most noteworthy highlights from this episode for those who might have missed it:

— Cody defeated Sammy Guevara in the opening contest by pinfall. After the match, Chris Jericho attacked Cody.

— MJF defeated Brandon Cutler by submission.

— SoCal Uncensored had a promo segment revolving around promoting the AEW World Tag Team Championship tournament that will start next week. The Lucha Brothers interrupted and a brawl ensued.

— Pac defeated "Hangman" Adam Page by submission.

— Riho defeated Nyla Rose by pinfall to become the first-ever AEW women's world champion!

— Chris Jericho, Ortiz and Santana won the main event six-man tag team match against Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks by pinfall. During the match, Omega was attacked by Jon Moxley, who eventually DDT'd Omega through a glass table in the VIP area. After the match, the fight continued with the three heels ganging up on Nick and Matt Jackson. Cody tried to help, but Sammy Guevara helped the heels. Dustin Rhodes then tried to even the odds some more and did a good job clearing the ring, but Jake Hager (formerly Jack Swagger from WWE) made his debut and cleaned house to stand tall with the heels (Jericho, Ortiz, Santana and Guevara) to end the night.
