It's been announced that All Elite Wrestling will crown the company's first ever women’s champion during their TNT television debut on October 2.

AEW Chief Brand Officer Brandi Rhodes confirmed the news (via Sports Illustrated).

“For many female wrestlers, the opportunity to fight for the title represents the crowning achievement of their careers,” said Rhodes. “The AEW women’s championship will be the cornerstone of the women’s division.”

No details on how the new champion will be decided have been revealed yet, but Brandi revealed that more information - including the names of the wrestles that'll be competing for the right to be the first champion - will come to light in the next episode of The Road to AEW All Out video series on YouTube, which is scheduled to air at 8 p.m. ET next Wednesday.
