Atlantis and Ultimo Guerrero make their returns to MLW.
Matt Riddle is scheduled to defend the MLW World Heavyweight Championship in the company’s annual Battle Riot match and it’s shaping up to be a star studded event featuring names from all kinds of professional wrestling. For those who don’t remember, Battle Riot is a 40-wrestler match where pinfalls, submissions, and over-the-top eliminations all count.
This is also the first time that the Battle RIOT match has been held for the World Heavyweight Championship. MLW has already confirmed several big names; former MLW World Heavyweight Champion Satoshi Kojima, Paul Walter Hauser, Bobby Fish, Jesus Rodriguez, Paul London, and Brock Anderson are just some of the competitors confirmed for the match.
Now, add the former Mexican National Light Heavyweight Champion to the mix.
Atlantis is a veteran who has worked in the business for 41 years. The 62-year-old perfected his craft in CMLL, but has wrestled internationally throughout the years for Ring of Honor, Revolution Pro Wrestling, New Japan Pro Wrestling, and of course, Major League Wrestling. Atlantis has been focused on the tag team division for the past two years, so this will be the first match within the promotion where he’ll venture out as a singles star. However, Atlantis has won plenty of singles world titles such as the NWA World Middleweight Champion, Azteca Champion, and WWA World Junior Light Heavyweight Champion.
But Atlantis isn’t the only other name that’s recently joined. Ultimo Guerrero is another name that Matt Riddle has to worry about.
The former CMLL World Heavyweight Champion has been making waves all around the wrestling world for 30 plus years. Ultimo has competed in New Japan Pro Wrestling, Revolution Pro Wrestling, ROH, and TNA; and he’s won seven world titles in different promotions.
Battle Riot is rounding out nicely. Check out the updated line-up below:!
