Chief Brand Officer Brandi Rhodes has given fans a very close look at the AEW Women’s championship:

On October 2nd in Washington DC, Riho and Nyla Rose will fight for the opportunity to become the first AEW Women’s Champion. The match-up is actually a grudge bout for Rose, who was pinned by Riho in a Triple Threat match back at Fyter Fest in June.

Rose was able to defeat Awesome Kong, Tenille Dashwood, Jazz, and 17 other competitors in the Casino Battle Royale to get a chance to fight for the belt. Riho would get a nice win later on at All Out over Hikaru Shida in a singles bout to earn her way into the title match on AEW’s debut episode.

The women’s match should definitely be an interesting clash of styles between Riho and Rose, seemingly a David vs. Goliath bout. It will be very interesting to see who is crowned the inaugural champion on October 2nd.
