As expected, Chris Jericho managed to retain his AEW Championship in the main event of Dynamite, but only after taking drastic measures to keep Darby Allin from getting the upset victory.
The match turned out to be a Philadelphia Street Fight (though rope breaks were enforced), and The Painmaker took full advantage by taping Allin's hands behind his back. To his credit, the fearless 22--year-old continued to fight, even hitting a couple of top-rope maneuvers while so dangerously incapacitated.
In the end, though, Jake Hager got involved and Jericho took advantage by locking on the Walls and forcing a referee stoppage. The whole Inner Circle then celebrated in the ring with a "little bitta the bubbly."
Jericho will now go on to face Cody with the title on the line at Full Gear next month.
