Ring of Honor has confirmed that on August 25, Matt Taven, Jay Lethal, Jeff Cobb, and Kenny King will compete in a Defy or Deny match.
The bout is set under elimination rules and if either Lethal, Cobb, or King win the match-up, then that wrestler will become the #1 contender for Taven’s ROH World Championship. However, if Taven wins, whoever is eliminated last cannot challenge The Kingdom member for the world title as long as he remains champion.
Taven actually competed in a Defy of Deny Match back in June and the ROH World Champion got the best of PCO, Mark Haskins, and Flip Gordon, who was the last man eliminated, thus Gordon is no longer capable of challenging for the ROH World Championship as long as Taven is the title holder.
Will Matt Taven overcome the odds once again and eliminate another man from the ROH World title contention? We’ll find out on August 25th!
